Come What May (young, french)

Every spring was shimmering gold

The earth shed its skin of the shivering cold

The years they were short, the days they were long

Sing with the birds the sweetest of songs

Come what may they’ll never take our love away

They’ll never take out love away

The riverbed roll through the righteous and wrong

The silt where it settled soaked in a song

Sun baked the soil and sin drained the bog

She sometimes run shallow but run all along

Laces of leaves and white flowers bound

Sewn by my hand with thread from the ground

My eyes spoke the word, mouths made the sounds

Sometimes run wild and run us aground

Come what may they’ll never take our love away

They’ll never take our love away

The sun bleached our bones and tanned our skin

Shown a light on all that has been

We come from the dust to dust we return

Rise from the ash of the withes that burn

Hold on to each other, collect all you learn

Remember you’re free like the trees and the birds

Remember you’re free like the tress and the birds

Come what may they’ll never take our love away
